"Good care is only as good as the carers who provide it..."

Cliffe Vale Care Home Mission Statement

Welcome to Cliffe Vale Care Home

At Cliffe Vale it is our intention to provide “a home within a home” for our clients. We see our role as a 24 hour support for those who find themselves no longer able to live alone, whether it is through physical or mental frailty. With experienced judgement we can enable our clients to cope with nearly any reduction in ability by providing privacy and maintaining and supporting their choices and independence.

Pride and privacy are high on our list of priorities as we continue to maintain a good quality of life for our clients. Cliffe Vale have trained staff who continue to learn and progress to provide the highest standard of care we possibly can. We choose our staff selectively and with particular regard to their personalities, qualifications and experience in caring for the elderly, almost as if it is the care given of a caring relative.

Individual care plans are compiled to embrace all our clients’ needs and are reviewed monthly, amended and updated as the clients needs change. Reviews are held annually and relatives are invited to attend if they wish to as we believe in full engagement with the client and relatives. Reviews are also done as required should any othe requirements surface.

Choice is a very important part of living and is offered to our clients in as many ways as possible. Clients are encouraged to be involved in choosing colour schemes when their rooms are decorated and may also use their rooms as and when they wish, with whom they wish. There is no getting up or going to bed regime and staff are always on hand to assist with this process. Each room has a lockable facility to ensure privacy and clients may have their own key if they wish (providing a risk assessment has been carried out). Each client is involved in the planning of meals, personal likes and dislikes are never ignored ensuring they are receiving the diet of their choice. Clients may choose to dine when and where they wish. Special diets are catered for and advice from the community dietician will be sought if necessary.

We aim to support efforts to maintain fulfilment, autonomy, individuality, self esteem, quality of experience and emotional needs. Contact with the community is a valuable part of daily living and we endeavour to maintain these contacts or introduce new ones wherever possible. We welcome service users of all religious beliefs, and ministers from various denominations visit the home to engage with our clients.

Although not a nursing home, where possible, our service users stay with us unless the level of care reaches that beyond which would be given in their own home and hospitalisation or special nursing care would be of greater value; however, on admission, our service users and relatives are advised to discuss their wishes regarding the procedure to be taken in the unfortunate event of their death.
